Best restaurants in America: OpenTable’s top 10

St. Francis Winery & Vineyards in Santa Rosa, Calif., was ranked the best restaurant in America by users of OpenTable, the online dining reservations site.

Have you ever booked a restaurant reservation online? Did you rate or review the place after you dined there? Users of OpenTable do by the millions, and now the online reservations site and app has analyzed its 2013 reviews to release its first-ever list of the top 10 restaurants in America.

While it’s not surprising to see California Wine Country well represented — with St. Francis Winery & Vineyards in Santa Rosa at number 1 and the famed French Laundry in Yountville at 9 — many diners may be shocked that no restaurants in New York City cracked OpenTable’s top 10. Other renowned dining cities appear, including Los Angeles (for n/naka), Chicago (goosefoot) and Charleston (Halls Chophouse), while the tiny town of Pittsboro, N.C., earns a top ten spot for its Fearrington House Restaurant.

OpenTable’s roster of restaurants is substantial — rankings were compiled from more than 5 million reviews for 19,000 restaurants — but many restaurants handle their own online reservations, or don’t take them at all, so some of your favorites may not have been considered. Here’s the complete list:
